What's new
0.76.11 November 2026this version
Fixed
- Generating a chart in the designer works again: since the designer moved to its own address, every attempt was refused with "This endpoint only serves this site."
0.76.01 November 2026
New
- The site's front page now says what it does and leads to the designer and the chart reader. The chart reader opens on a list of the charts you are stitching, or asks you to log in, and brings you back after. The designer's header and account menu have a Chart reader link.
0.75.01 November 2026
Changed
- Generate is unavailable until you change a setting or the photo after making a chart, instead of a note saying something changed. Accept and edit asks first when you changed something since the chart was made, and says what it will take.
- New chart from this photo is no longer a button in the bar at the top: find it in Commands (on a phone it stays in the menu).
Fixed
- After cropping or otherwise changing the photo, Accept and edit no longer takes the chart made before the change, at the old size; it gives an empty grid of the size you chose over the changed photo, unless you press Generate again first.
0.74.031 October 2026
New
- Accept and edit works without making a chart, too: you get an empty grid of the size you chose over the photo, with the colours you chose under Set up palette, or none. To make another chart from the same photo later, press New chart from this photo; it opens beside your chart with the photo as you changed it and the same settings.
Changed
- Making a chart from a photo is now a step of its own. A chart is made only when you press Generate, so you can change several settings first; a note tells you when the settings differ from the chart on screen. When you like it, press Accept and edit to take it on to Edit and Export.
Fixed
- Pressing Generate again, or Cancel, stops the chart being made on the server at once instead of letting it finish unseen. While a chart forms it keeps the photo and chart visibility you chose: over the photo at the chart's strength, and not at all while the chart is hidden.
0.73.131 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.73.031 October 2026
Changed
- A busy server now shares its time: one person's charts and exports cannot fill the queue for everyone else, a long multi-page export never takes the last slot, and a request the server cannot take right now says so at once instead of waiting.
0.72.030 October 2026
Changed
- The chart picture exports of a large chart finish about an eighth faster, and if the chart engine ever stops mid-job the export says so in plain words instead of showing an internal error.
0.71.130 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.71.029 October 2026
Changed
- The buttons under the chart stay where they are when you switch between Colour, B&W and Stitched. The "Stitched is for looking" line is gone.
Fixed
- A stamp chosen in Add stamp now arrives in the middle of the part of the chart you can see. Zoomed in, it used to land partly off screen.
0.70.029 October 2026
Changed
- The overview page at the start of the printable PDF and the A4 pages now shows the chart as a picture, without symbols. On a chart more than 100 stitches wide or tall it has a grid line every 10 stitches instead of every stitch.
0.69.029 October 2026
Changed
- The printable PDF and the A4 pages now open with the whole chart on one page, symbols included, in colour or black and white. The colour key comes next and says how many skeins each thread needs, so the separate skein page is gone. The map of the pages follows, then the pages to stitch from.
0.68.028 October 2026
Changed
- Export all's list in Preferences is easier to read: each export is one line, with its settings in short under it, and Change opens it to edit.
Fixed
- Naming a stamp, or renaming a saved chart, project, stamp or thread system, no longer makes your password manager offer to keep the name as a password.
- In Photo mode the photo is now shown at the same size as the chart. Moving a slider or picking up a photo tool no longer changes how big a stitch looks, and zooming in or out changes both together.
0.67.026 October 2026
New
- You can now choose what Export all puts in its bundle. Press "Choose what goes in" under Export all, or open Preferences, and list the exports you want, each with its own settings: a colour PDF and a black-and-white one, say, or the same PDF at two stitch sizes. The editable chart is always included, and the button says how many files you will get.
0.66.021 October 2026
New
- There is no Generate button any more: the chart is made as soon as you open a photo, and made again by itself whenever you change a setting, so you see what each change does. Every new chart is one step you can undo. A chart you have changed by hand, or opened, is never replaced by itself: the panel offers Regenerate instead. The strip of earlier tries is gone, since Undo now goes back through them. If your plan limits how many charts you can make, a photo counts once however often its chart is remade.
- You can watch the chart form while it is made. First the stitches appear in the photo's own colours, then in the threads chosen for them, and then the finished chart.
- Before your first chart, the grid of stitches is drawn over the photo. With the new Move photo tool (V) you can drag the photo under the grid, or nudge it with the arrow keys, to line up an edge with a column of stitches. The chart is made again where the photo now lies.
0.65.016 October 2026
New
- In the chart reader, Project settings now has Symbols on done stitches: show a stitch you have done in its colour only, with its symbol as before, or with a paler symbol. Your choice is kept on this device for every project.
0.64.116 October 2026
Fixed
- The chart reader draws the chart again as soon as you come back to it. On some phones it could stay blank until you touched it.
0.64.016 October 2026
Changed
- The chart reader no longer has a key beside the chart: the colour cells above the chart are the list of colours, each with its thread's number under it. While a colour is found, the cells stay, so one press finds another.
0.63.016 October 2026
New
- A stitching project can be updated from its chart after you change the chart: your marks stay where they are. Stitches you had already done that the chart changed get a red border, until you mark them not done or keep them as stitched.
0.62.116 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.62.016 October 2026
Changed
- The chart reader now opens on Move, so you can look around the chart without marking anything; choose Mark to mark stitches. Finding a colour chooses Mark for you, and clearing it goes back to Move. See Stitching from a chart.
0.61.016 October 2026
New
- The key now sits beside the chart in the chart reader, so you can find a colour without opening the overview. On a phone it folds to a Key tab at the edge of the screen. Above the chart, a row of coloured cells with their symbols finds a colour with one press. Changing a colour and renaming the project have moved to Settings, at the top of the reader. While a colour is found, pressing or dragging on another colour now moves the chart, without a message. See Stitching from a chart.
0.60.016 October 2026
New
- The chart reader now opens Locked: a press or a drag only marks stitches done, so a stray tap cannot unmark your work. Press Locked to unlock when you want to mark a stitch not done; Undo works either way. While a colour is found in the key, only that colour's stitches are marked. See Stitching from a chart.
0.59.116 October 2026
Fixed
- The chart no longer disappears while you zoom with two fingers, in the editor and the chart reader. The reader's overview no longer stretches a tall or wide chart's picture.
0.59.015 October 2026
New
- The chart reader now has a key. Open Overview and press a colour to find its stitches: the other colours dim, and a strip above the chart shows how many of that colour you have done. Press Colour beside a colour to show it in the thread you are actually using, or any colour, in that project only. Your account has a new Projects page, with a picture of each project, how far along it is and the chart it came from. See Stitching from a chart.
0.58.015 October 2026
New
- Stitch from your charts with the new chart reader. In your account's Charts, press Start stitching on a chart: it opens in black and white with its symbols, and a tap or a drag marks the stitches you have done, which then show in their colour. Undo and Redo step through your marks, Overview shows the whole chart and how far along each colour is, and your marks are saved to your account as you go, on any device. See Stitching from a chart.
0.57.115 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.57.015 October 2026
New
- When you change a thread's colour, Similar lightness, Similar hue and Similar saturation mark the threads that are close to it, and fade the rest, so you can find a near match quickly. Turn on two or three to narrow it down. See Colours and threads.
Fixed
- A file opened in the moment the page is still putting your chart back now opens beside it, instead of being replaced by it. The start screen no longer flashes up before your chart.
0.56.015 October 2026
New
- The thread list, the thread picker and your chosen colours in Set up palette can now be sorted by Lightness, Hue or Saturation, as well as in their usual order. Sorting only changes what you see: the chart, its key and its exports stay as they are. See Colours and threads.
0.55.115 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.55.015 October 2026
New
- You can now open an SVG drawing as your photo, by choosing it, dropping it or pasting it. It is drawn once at 4000 pixels on its longer side, in its own shape, so a small icon comes out sharp. Its transparent parts become empty stitches, as a transparent PNG's do. See Choosing a photo.
0.54.015 October 2026
New
- A new Stitch colour choice on the Photo panel's Palette tab sets how the part of the photo a stitch covers becomes its colour. You can keep Average or Vivid, or choose Dominant colour for flat artwork, Median for a noisy photo, Centre pixel for pixel art, or Sharper to keep fine detail crisper. It replaces the Colour detail switch.
0.53.115 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.53.015 October 2026
Changed
- Every locked layer now shows its thin grey diagonal lines, not only the one you are working on, so you can see which stitches you can't draw over. While the layer you are working on is locked, the pointer over the chart shows a small padlock instead of its dot. The dot itself is now filled with the colour you are drawing in, inside a dark and white ring that stays visible on any thread; with Empty in hand it shows a small dark and white check.
0.52.015 October 2026
New
- When the layer you are working on is locked, its stitches are marked with thin grey diagonal lines, so you can see at once why nothing draws. The symmetry lines are now shown only in Edit, in Colour and Black & white: no longer over Stitched, Photo or Export. And a new preference, The lasso line under Drawing, lets the Lasso and Lasso fill line follow your pointer exactly instead of stepping from stitch to stitch; it then takes every stitch the line passes over.
- A new Textures switch on the view bar draws Colour and B&W with your chart's stitch texture and canvas texture, as Stitched does, while you keep drawing on the chart. In B&W the texture is grey, and with the photo under the chart the photo shows instead of the cloth.
0.51.015 October 2026
Changed
- A drawing colour is always chosen: a new chart starts with both squares on Empty, clicking the thread you draw with keeps it, a thread you add or merge into becomes your drawing colour, and both colours and the active layer are still there after a reload. To change only the stitch type of stitches already there, choose the Brush's Type only.
0.50.115 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.50.015 October 2026
New
- A new chart is no longer called cross-stitch-pattern. An empty grid, or a chart made from a pasted picture, is given a name of its own, such as Adorable Little Chart or Cosy Linen Sampler, which you can change as before. A chart from a photo file is still named after the file. Saved and exported files carry the name in lower case with hyphens, such as adorable-little-chart.pdf.
0.49.014 October 2026
Changed
- Numbers and dates now look the same on every page: 1,203 and 7 October 2026, with times on a 24-hour clock. The edges of boxes you type in and the lightest text are easier to see, links inside a sentence are underlined, and when you move around with the keyboard a clear outline shows where you are.
0.48.014 October 2026
Changed
- The site now uses the same words everywhere: British spelling (colour, grey, centre), chart for what you make, and Log in and Log out for your account. The view commands read Colour view, Black & white view and Stitched view, and the printed A4 pages say Colour key. The PDF for Pattern Keeper keeps its headings as they were, so it imports into Pattern Keeper just as before.
0.47.014 October 2026
New
- While a limit applies, Generate and Export say how many are left, and when the next one comes once none is. Where a limit needs an account, the message links to logging in and registering.
- Every page outside the editor now has the same bar at the top and the same links at the foot: the terms, the privacy policy, the user guide, What's new and a new Contact page. A Skip to content link comes first for keyboard users, each page has its own title in the browser tab, and an address with no page shows a page of the site with ways back.
Changed
- On a phone, your account's page now comes straight after the list of its sections, with your plan and Log out after it.
- Back from paying for a plan, the Plan page shows the plan as soon as the payment is confirmed, without reloading; after a minute it offers Check again.
Fixed
- Logging in with a field left empty now says so beside the field and puts the cursor there.
0.46.014 October 2026
New
- Your name at the right of the editor's bar opens a menu with your account and Log out, so you can log out without leaving the editor.
- Logging in or registering now brings you back to the page you were on, and from the editor back to your chart.
Changed
- Deleting your account now ends on a page that says it is done, and before you delete it reminds you that your saved charts go with it.
- Changing your password now signs out your other devices, and says so. The device you changed it on stays signed in.
- Password fields have Show, to see what you typed, and a new password says its rule (at least 8 characters) before you type.
- Register now names the terms of service and the privacy policy you agree to by registering.
- Send it again now sends the confirmation email straight to the address you typed, in one press.
Fixed
- Opening Register while signed in now says you are logged in, instead of offering a second account.
0.45.014 October 2026
New
- Choose a fabric margin, the spare cloth around your stitching for a hoop or a frame, and the export shows how much fabric to buy. The pages print it too.
- Export now opens on a printable PDF: your chart cut into pages for A4 or US Letter paper, with a page map, the skein table and the colour key, ready to print in one go.
Changed
- Evenweave fabrics (22, 25, 28 and 32-count) can now be stitched over one or over two, chosen beside the fabric. 22 and 25-count start over one, 28 and 32-count over two, and charts you already have keep their fabric.
- The page overlap now says it counts stitches, and the cell size is called the printed stitch size.
0.44.014 October 2026
New
- A photo can now be dropped anywhere on the start screen or in Photo, or pasted with Ctrl+V. With a chart already open, it opens in a new tab beside it.
- Photo crop: in Photo, the crop tool (C) cuts the photo to a frame before it is charted. Drag the frame or type how many pixels to cut from each edge; Undo puts the photo back.
Changed
- While a chart is being made, the card now lists the settings in use: size and fabric, thread brand and colours, edges and dither.
0.43.014 October 2026
New
- More fabrics: 20-count Aida, 22 and 25-count evenweave, and 28 and 32-count evenweave stitched over two. The thread estimate uses one strand on 22 and 25-count. The fabric can now be chosen in Photo, where the size line shows the chart's stitches and its finished size.
Changed
- A new photo now starts with DMC threads rather than Full range, so every colour is one you can buy. Full range is still there, and Preferences sets which one a new photo starts with.
0.42.014 October 2026
Changed
Rows of tabs answer the arrow keys: ← and → move to the next tab, Home and End to the first and last. In the thread list, ↑ and ↓ move between threads, Enter or Space chooses one, F2 renames it, and the menu key or Shift+F10 opens its new ⋯ menu, with Use as background, Rename and Merge into…, which also brings these to a touch screen.
You can now drag a thread with a finger as well as the mouse. Dropped on the chart, it fills exactly as the Fill tool would, with Fill's settings, the stitch type, symmetry and Lock transparency.
The editor answers the keys you know from other programs. Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac) saves: to your account when you are logged in, otherwise to a file. Ctrl+= and Ctrl+− zoom, Ctrl+0 fits the whole chart in view and Ctrl+1 goes back to 100%; the new Fit button does the same as Ctrl+0, and + and − grey out at the ends of the zoom. Ctrl+A selects the whole chart from any tool, Delete or Backspace deletes what you selected while keeping what you copied, and T picks up Text. With a piece in hand, Undo now cancels it.
The mouse wheel now scrolls the chart, as it does on any page. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) with the wheel, or pinch on a trackpad, to zoom. If you liked the wheel zooming, choose Zooms under The wheel in Preferences.
0.41.014 October 2026
Changed
- On a phone or a tablet, pinching the chart now grows and shrinks it smoothly under your fingers, and it is drawn sharp again when you lift one. Anywhere else you can pinch to zoom the page. Hold Pan and Hold Picker have moved to the bottom right of the chart, within reach of your thumb, and say On while held. The hint under the chart is now the first thing in that line and says two fingers also move the chart. Commands open from the top of the screen, so the keyboard does not cover them; number fields bring up the number keys and no longer zoom the page when pressed; menus near the foot of the screen open upward; and pulling down on the editor no longer reloads it.
0.40.013 October 2026
Changed
- On a phone the chart keeps room on every screen: the settings in Photo and Export fold away with the arrow at their top, and make way by themselves on a short screen. A phone turned on its side now works, with the tools down the left and the settings at the right. The threads sheet stops low, at half or at full height; drag it, press its grip, or go Back to close it.
0.39.013 October 2026
Changed
- On a tablet or a phone every control is now big enough for a fingertip, Undo and Redo, the colour squares, zoom and the view switches included. The two drawing colours sit side by side there, and the view controls under the chart slide sideways instead of taking two rows.
0.38.013 October 2026
New
- A chart you opened from your account now tells you, within a minute, when it was saved again from another browser or device, and offers Update, Save current as copy or Keep editing. Update is one step you can undo. In Preferences, Take it updates a chart by itself when nothing here is unsaved.
0.37.013 October 2026
New
- A chart open in two tabs of this browser can be changed in either, and each change shows in the other a moment later, as a step you can undo. Charts opened or closed in one tab are opened or closed in the others. Back to the editor, on the guide and What's new, closes that page's tab when the editor is already open, instead of starting a second one.
0.36.013 October 2026
New
- Several charts can be open at once, each in its own tab. Starting or opening a chart opens it beside the one you have, so nothing is replaced and nothing is asked. Closing a tab keeps the chart in Recently closed for 30 days. A chart saved nowhere but this browser has a dot on its tab. Generating over a chart you have edited keeps the edited chart as a pinned try.
0.35.113 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.35.013 October 2026
Changed
- Settings explain themselves on the page instead of only in a tooltip you have to hover to find. A locked feature says why under it, the Export button says why it cannot be pressed, and choosing the PDF for Pattern Keeper or the OXS file warns you first if it will leave out this chart's backstitch or make its half stitches whole. A finished export now says which file was downloaded, just under the Export button, so the chart does not jump. While a chart is being made, screen readers hear its progress. The Cancel button on a selection now describes what it does: it drops the piece in hand, and anything already merged stays. A photo slider you have moved but not applied now says so under the sliders, before leaving the tab gives it up.
Fixed
- When a chart cannot be made, the message now says why: a photo larger than 25 MB, too many requests at once, or a chart that took too long, instead of "Couldn't generate a pattern from that image". A photo over 25 MB is refused as soon as you choose it, and a photo that cannot be read says so on the start screen too. Error messages now stay until you close them, and screen readers announce them. If you were logged out while your account page was open, its forms say so and offer to log you in again.
0.34.113 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.34.013 October 2026
New
- You can draw on a tablet with a finger or a pen. Two fingers zoom and scroll the chart with any tool, and a stroke you start just before a second finger lands is taken back. Once a pen has drawn, a finger scrolls instead of drawing; turn this off with Draw with the pen only, under Touch in Preferences. A quick stroke with the brush now lays every stitch it crosses, without gaps.
- On a tablet or a phone, Hold Pan and Hold Picker at the top right of the chart do what holding Space or Alt does on a keyboard: press once to pan or pick with a finger, and again to have your tool back. On a phone the start screen scrolls, and the view controls and the measurements under the chart slide sideways instead of being cut short.
- The editor now works on a phone. The tools are in one row along the bottom of the screen; slide it sideways for more. In Edit, Threads at the end of that row opens the threads, the chart's settings and the layers over the chart. Menu, at the top left, has New chart, Save, Add stamp, Preferences, Help and your account. On a phone a finger always draws.
- On a tablet the editor is laid out for your fingers: larger buttons for the tools and the bars, and the settings panel at the side of the chart when you hold the tablet sideways, or under it when you hold it upright. The bar under the chart says what a finger does on the chart.
0.33.112 October 2026
Fixed
- The font list in the Text tab opens with every name already written in its font, and no longer jumps or stalls as you scroll it. The fonts load once when the app opens, and your browser keeps them for later visits. Names in the list can no longer be highlighted by a double click or a drag.
0.33.012 October 2026
New
- In the Text tab, each font in the font list is written in that font, so you can see what it looks like before you choose it. The list of a font's types (Regular, Bold, Italic) shows each one the same way.
Fixed
- The bundled pixel font Tiny now draws in its own letters; before, the text came out in a plain font instead.
0.32.312 October 2026
Fixed
- With Use backstitch on, lettering no longer gets an extra backstitch line beside a stroke that is already stitched. In some fonts the bar of an e showed a V-shaped line inside the letter, under its stitched bar.
0.32.212 October 2026
Fixed
- With Use backstitch on, the backstitch lines in lettering now follow the letters' shapes more closely. Round letters such as o, a and e keep their tops and bottoms, a thin bar runs level instead of zigzagging, and serifs no longer leave stray forks.
0.32.112 October 2026
Fixed
- With Use backstitch on, the backstitch lines in lettering now run straight along a stroke instead of in small steps. A line is no longer broken by a single cross stitch, as the line takes that stitch's place, and a stitched stroke no longer ends in a short stub of backstitch.
0.32.012 October 2026
New
- The Text tab has a Use backstitch switch. Turned on, strokes too thin to stitch, such as the hairlines of a serif font, become backstitch lines in the same thread. The preview shows them, the piece you place carries them with the letters, and one undo removes the whole lettering. It follows the Backstitch tool: where that is unavailable, so is the switch.
Changed
- The number of colours moved from Chart settings to the Palette tab of the Photo settings, beside the palette it belongs with.
0.31.012 October 2026
New
- Click the chart's name in the bar at the top to rename it. Enter keeps the new name and Escape the old one, and the rename can be undone.
Changed
- The canvas color, the canvas texture and the stitch texture now belong to each chart. Set them in the Chart tab of the Edit workspace: they are saved with the chart and can be undone. Preferences sets the look a new chart starts with.
- The Photo settings have a new Palette tab. The palette (automatic or set up), the thread brands, your own thread systems and Color detail (Averaged or Vivid) moved there from Chart settings, which keeps the size, the number of colours, the algorithm, edges and dither.
0.30.012 October 2026
New
- The user guide has a search box above its list of pages. Type a few words to see the parts of the guide that mention them, and pick one to open its page at that part; press / to get to the box.
0.29.011 October 2026
New
- A Help button in the top bar opens the new user guide in a tab of its own, so your chart stays as it is. It explains every part of the site, from making a chart from a photo to drawing, layers, threads, backstitch, text, stamps, saving and exports, with pictures of the editor and the keys to know. Open the user guide is in the command list too.
Fixed
- Once a chart has 100 threads, + Add in the thread list is greyed out and says why, instead of doing nothing when pressed.
0.28.211 October 2026
Fixed
- An OXS chart with a backstitch line in a colour the file does not list now opens, without that line, and the import notice counts it. When nothing inside an archive can be opened, the message names each file and what was wrong with it.
0.28.111 October 2026
Fixed
- A file that is not a photo the app can read, such as an SVG drawing, is now refused with a message naming the formats that work, instead of the upload failing without a reason. The author name on exports is limited to 200 characters.
0.28.010 October 2026
Changed
- Your account now opens on your saved Charts. Profile & sign-in has its own place in the account's list.
0.27.010 October 2026
New
- Layers can be locked. Press the lock on a layer's row in the Layers list: the layer stays visible, but it can't be drawn on, renamed, merged or deleted until you unlock it. Cropping, moving the whole design and changing colours still apply to it, so it stays in line with the other layers. The lock is saved with the chart.
Fixed
- Every try can be chosen again. Generating the same chart with the same settings no longer adds a copy: the try you already have is marked instead. The tries strip no longer has a "Continue in Edit" box beside it that covered the last try when there were many; use the Edit workspace above to go on editing.
0.26.010 October 2026
New
- Keep thread systems of your own: upload a list of threads as a CSV (number, name, colour) or JSON file, from your account's Thread systems or under the palette choice, and generate, set up palettes, add colours and edit in it. They are yours alone; rename, download or delete them in your account.
Changed
- Anchor charts now match each colour straight against Anchor's own threads, so a few colours may come out differently from before. Anchor's note still says its colours come from their DMC equivalents.
- A colour whose thread belongs to a system this site does not have, such as one from another app's file, now keeps its system, number and name everywhere: opening, editing, saving, and every export. Its colour editor opens in the plain colour picker.
0.25.010 October 2026
New
- Signed in, your saved palettes are now kept with your account, in one list on the photo page and the Edit page, each colour with its name and thread. Palettes this browser kept before are offered once to move in. Signed out, a palette saves as a file.
- Palettes can now be saved and loaded on the Edit page too. A loaded palette can be appended, adding only the colours your chart doesn't have yet, or it can replace the chart's palette: each colour moves to the same thread in the new palette, or else to the closest-looking colour. Palette files now keep each colour's name and its thread system and number, and older palette files still open. While setting up a palette you can name each colour and type its thread, and switching the thread system no longer clears your colours.
- Each colour's thread system and number can be typed in the colour editor, including numbers our thread lists don't have. Typing a number never changes the colour, and changing the colour keeps its number.
Changed
- A chart is no longer tied to one thread system: any colour can be a DMC, Cosmo or Anchor thread, or a colour of your own, whatever the chart was generated in. Stamps can now go into any chart.
- Printed keys now have the same columns for every chart. The A4 thread table, the colour key and the Pattern Keeper PDF show each colour's thread system and number in their own columns, left blank for a colour of your own, and the details name every thread system the chart uses. The full chart picture's legend says the same on one line, for example "Anchor 403 - Black". OXS files now carry numbers you typed yourself.

New
- A selection can now be cut: Cut (or Ctrl+X) takes the piece off the chart and keeps it to paste.
Changed
- Paste puts the piece onto the layer you are working on. A cut piece, or a copy pasted onto another layer, arrives in the place it was taken from.
- On a chart with more than one layer, the selection actions now name the layer a selection takes from, so selecting over stitches on another layer no longer seems to do nothing.
Fixed
- Crop to selection works on a chart with more than one layer, cropping every layer.
0.23.09 October 2026
New
- Charts can have layers. Under Edit, the Layers list adds, hides, renames, reorders, merges and deletes them. Drag a layer onto another's Merge box to merge the two. Drawing tools work on the active layer. Backstitch stays above every layer. The thread counts, every export and the editable file follow what is shown: hidden layers are not counted, but the editable file keeps them.
Fixed
- Pressing Enter to finish typing a name no longer also paints a stitch where the pointer last was on the chart.

Changed
- A paid plan now ends when its paid period ends, unless the next payment arrives.
- The Plan page in your account now says where your plan stands, and paid plans will be offered there once they go on sale.
0.21.08 October 2026
New
- When a limit on generating or exporting is set for you, your account's Usage page shows how many you have used, how many are left, and when the next one is available.
Changed
- If the site limits how many charts you can generate or export, reaching the limit now tells you which limit it is and when you can go on. No limit is set yet, so nothing changes for now.
0.20.08 October 2026
Changed
- Stamp and saved-chart previews now show half stitches with their corners cut and backstitch lines over the stitches, as the Stitched view does. Previews you already have are drawn again the first time you open them.
0.19.08 October 2026
Changed
- A stamp's preview now fills its card, in the account's Stamps and in Add stamp's gallery, instead of showing as a small dot.
0.18.08 October 2026
New
- Add stamp: a new button beside Save opens a gallery of your stamps, to search and choose one. It arrives on the chart as a piece in hand, to move, flip and apply; a thread the chart lacks is added to its palette.
- Save as stamp: with a piece in hand, the Selection tab can keep it with your account as a named stamp: its stitches, shape, backstitch and the threads it uses. Your stamps are listed in the account under Stamps, to search, rename, pin and delete.
Changed
- Select, Lasso and the Magic wand have a new Transparency as colour switch. Off (the default), the empty stitches of a piece you move, flip or turn leave the stitches beneath them as they were; on, they clear what they land on, as before.
0.17.08 October 2026
Changed
- Your saved charts in the account now show as cards, as the new design draws them. Search them by name, sort them by Recent, Name or Size, and pin the ones you want kept first. Each card shows when the chart was saved, its size, its colours and its thread brand. New chart starts a chart in the editor, and the account menu shows how many charts you have saved beside Charts.
0.16.08 October 2026
New
- Each chart in your account's Charts shows a small picture of it in its own colours, one square per stitch. The picture is drawn again every time you save the chart.
0.15.08 October 2026
New
- Your account has a Charts section: the charts you saved, with the space they use. Each one can be opened in the editor, renamed or deleted; a chart opened from there saves back to itself.
- Save is now a menu. Signed in, Save keeps the chart in your account, and saving again writes over that same chart even after a rename; Save as copy keeps a new one and carries on with it. If the chart was saved from somewhere else since, you are asked first. Save to file downloads the editable file as before.
0.14.08 October 2026
New
- Photo has a Photo wand (W): click the photo to select a colour, either only where it touches or everywhere, with a sensitivity slider and the same New, Add and Subtract modes as Select. Delete clears the selected part of the photo with hard edges, and Undo and Redo step through what was done to the photo.
Changed
- The photo sliders now preview a change until you press Apply, which writes it into the photo and sets the sliders back to the middle; Cancel, another tab or another workspace gives the change up. With a selection from the Photo wand, Apply changes only the selected part. Apply and background removal can both be undone, and Generate always uses the photo as applied; a note by Generate says when the sliders have moved but are not applied.
0.13.07 October 2026
Changed
- Deleting your account now sits in a red Danger zone box on the account page, with a red button and a line saying it cannot be undone.
0.12.07 October 2026
Changed
- Your account has a new look: a header with a way back to the editor, a list of its sections at the side, and a Profile & sign-in page showing your name, how you sign in, your password and deleting the account.
- Your account has three new sections. Plan shows the plan you are on. Usage shows how many patterns you generated and exported in the last 30 days and in all, with a bar for each day and your exports by kind. Preferences lets you change the editor's preferences without opening a chart.
- The admin area has a new look. Overview shows generations, exports, new and active accounts for today, 7 days, 30 days or all time, compared with the period before, with jobs per day and exports by kind. Users can be searched and filtered by role and status, and opens a person's details beside the list. A new Change log lists every change an admin made, including roles and logins.
0.11.17 October 2026
Work behind the scenes only: nothing you would notice has changed.
0.11.07 October 2026
Changed
- In a narrower window the bar of tool options no longer hides controls off its edge: a group that does not fit shrinks to one small button showing its current choice, which opens the whole choice under it, and what still does not fit is under the "More options" button (three dots).
0.10.07 October 2026
Changed
- The bar of tool options above the chart shows only its controls: the tool's name, the group names and the thread names are gone (point at a colour square to see its thread), the region choices of Fill and the Magic wand are small pictures, and Apply, Cancel and Deselect sit at the bar's end, never over an option.
0.9.07 October 2026
New
- A new Magic wand tool (W) selects the whole area of one colour with one click, using the same Diagonal neighbours and Color only choices as Fill (set separately). Clicking a backstitch line selects every line of that colour. It works with Select +, Select − and Invert selection, like Select and Lasso.
- Select and Lasso have three modes: Select replaces the selection, Select + adds to it and Select − takes away from it. A new Invert selection button selects everything else, backstitch included. The selection's size no longer shows in the bar.
Changed
- Select, Lasso and the Magic wand now have a Selection tab in the right panel holding every selection action, grouped: Select, Copy and paste, Paint, Flip and turn, Chart and Finish. The top bar keeps the selection mode (Select, Select +, Select −) and Apply here and Cancel, so nothing is cut off at any window width.
- Sign-in is safer: after too many attempts in a short time it asks you to wait a few minutes, and you stay signed in for up to a week before signing in again. A file exported from a photo whose name holds accented letters (such as "Kočka") now downloads under that name.
0.8.07 October 2026
Changed
- The dither pattern pictures are now drawn by the same code that makes charts, so a preview is exactly what the chart will use. The drawn marks' preview is drawn by the server a moment after a slider rests.
0.7.06 October 2026
New
- With no thread chosen, the Brush changes the stitch type of the stitches it passes over and keeps their colour: choose a stitch type, press the active thread again to let it go, and brush. Empty stitches are left alone.
- The Zoom tool has a new option under Direction: In or Out. A right click zooms the other way, and the pointer shows which way a click goes.
Changed
- Fill now keeps to the stitch type it is pressed on: filling whole stitches no longer spreads into half stitches of the same colour. Two new Fill options, under Region: Color only changes just the colour, keeps each stitch's type and fills across types; Diagonal neighbours can be set to Edges only, so stitches touching only at a corner are left out. The Brush's double press no longer fills a region, and its preference is gone.
- Half stitches are drawn thinner: each cut corner now takes 60 % of the side instead of 50 %, on screen and in the chart images and pages.
0.6.06 October 2026
New
- The status bar now names the colour under the pointer, with its swatch, beside the stitch numbers. Over a backstitch line it names the line's thread; over an empty stitch it says "Empty (no stitch)".
Changed
- With the pattern faded below 5 % over the photo, the note "Too faint to edit" is no longer shown. Drawing still waits until the pattern is at least 5 % visible. The pattern visibility slider stays in its place, disabled, while the photo is off, instead of disappearing.
0.5.06 October 2026
New
- A colour picker, the Picker (I): click a stitch or a backstitch line to take its colour, or right-click to take it as the second colour. With a drawing tool in hand, hold Alt to pick without changing tools.
Fixed
- Holding Space to pan no longer leaves the Pan tool in hand if you switch to another window before letting go.
0.4.06 October 2026
Changed
- The view is now a set of switches under the chart: Color, Black & white or Stitched; Symbols on or off (Y); and Photo under the pattern (P), with a slider for how visible the pattern is over it, down to the photo alone. Color over the photo can be edited like Black & white. Keys 4 and 5 still show the pattern half over the photo and the photo alone. The view you chose is kept when the page is reloaded; a new chart still opens in Color.
Fixed
- Setting the photo sliders back to the centre while the photo is shown under the chart now shows the photo as uploaded. A sharpened picture of the old slider values could arrive a moment later and stay on screen.
- Keyboard shortcuts now work while a slider or a checkbox has the focus, for example right after moving the pattern visibility slider. Text fields still keep every key you type.
0.3.06 October 2026
New
- A site's administrator can switch off the Photo, Edit or Export workspace. A workspace switched off is either gone or shown greyed with a note saying it is not available to you, and so is everything under it: its tab, its commands and keys, and buttons such as Save or "Continue in Edit". You land in the next workspace that is on, and the chart you had open stays as it was.
Fixed
- The start screen said "Drop a photo anywhere below", but a dropped photo was not taken, and the browser could open it in place of the editor. A photo dropped there now starts a chart from it, as choosing one does. When Photo is not available to you the hint is not shown and a dropped file is ignored. The photo card is no longer highlighted while it is greyed out.
0.2.16 October 2026
Fixed
- On the "What's new" page, the New, Changed and Fixed headings now sit under their version, so a screen reader reads them as part of that release.
0.2.06 October 2026
New
- The foot of Preferences shows which version of the app you are using. A crash report names it too.
- A "What's new" page lists what each version of the app changed, newest first. Open it from the foot of Preferences, or find "What's new in this version" in the command list.
